Ti13Nb13Zr titanium bars is a near-beta type alloy, specifically designed for biomedical applications, particularly for surgical implants. Due to its low Young's modulus (40 - 80 GPa) and non-toxic composition, it is suitable for orthopedic applications. Compared to other titanium alloys used as biomaterials such as Ti6Al4V and Ti6Al7Nb, the main advantage of Ti13Nb13Zr alloy lies in its lower elastic modulus, which is closer to that of bone, and it does not contain aluminum and vanadium.

 

Ti13Nb13Zr titanum bars contains approximately 13% of niobium and 13% of zirconium, with the rest being titanium. The niobium in Ti-13Nb-13Zr is a beta phase stabilizer. Another alloy element, zirconium, is of the same crystal structure as both the alpha and beta phases of titanium. The combination of these two alloy elements enables the development of a "close" beta phase structure, which is said to be superior to alpha-beta phase alloys in terms of corrosion resistance, and has sufficient alpha phase in the final structure to provide the necessary mechanical strength. Compared to Ti6Al4V and Ti6Al7Nb, its tensile strength is approximately 1300 MPa.
