Gr23 titanium bars also called Ti6Al4V ELI titanium bars or GR5 ELI titanium bars.
Gr23 titanium is a premium version of the more common Ti6Al4V titanium alloy (Grade 5 titanium). It has even stricter controls on the amount of interstitial elements, specifically for Oxygen and Iron.
- Lower Oxygen (Max 0.13% in Gr23 vs. 0.20% in Gr5): This is the key. Reduced oxygen significantly enhances ductility and fracture toughness. This means a Gr23 bar can bend more without breaking and is more resistant to the propagation of cracks-a critical property for a device that will experience millions of cyclic loads in the body.
- Lower Iron: Further enhances corrosion resistance.
This combination makes Gr23 the undisputed gold standard for surgical implants, offering the best balance of:
